We offer pet bereavement support PRE and POST the loss of a pet. Our services are free of charge for those who need them.
Pet Bereavement Support PRE the loss of a pet
Experience has taught us that those pet owners who reach out for support PRE the loss of their pet tend cope far better after the death and there is significantly less, if any, need for them to be supported afterwards. We can cover all aspects of the journey you are about to take from practical advice on what to expect on the day to how to prepare emotionally for the day.
Some of the more common themes we are asked about PRE the loss of a pet are:
- When will I know the time is right?
- My pet is so afraid of the Vet, I don’t want that to be his/her lasting memory.
- I don’t know what is going to happen, will they allow me to be with my pet?
- How long does the euthanasia process take?
- Can I take my deceased pet home with me?
- What will I tell my Children?
- I don’t think I will be able to go through with it
- I don’t know how I’m going to get my dog to the vet
- What will happen to my pet once she has died?
- I want my pet to go to a crematorium that my Vet doesn’t use
Pet Bereavement Support POST the loss of a pet
People often underestimate the overwhelming impact the loss of a pet will have on them, it often takes weeks or months to come to terms with the loss, if you have been impacted then we are here to listen and help
The pet bereavement counselling support we offer provides a unique opportunity to be heard, validated and valued. You will be appointed a Pet Bereavement Counsellor who will guide and support you through the grieving process from your initial call to completion. Many clients feel that one session is sufficient to gain acceptance of their loss and make the required adjustments, while others may need up to six counselling sessions over a period of weeks or months.
Our counsellors are adept at building rapport and trust with our clients, thus allowing you to feel comfortable in the knowledge we truly understand the emotional turmoil you are experiencing. We will not use counselling jargon nor do we simply mirror everything you are saying, we will talk to you as a friend whilst maintaining a professional stance and respecting boundaries, and at all times abide by the code of conduct for counsellors.
Some of the more common themes we are asked about POST the loss of a pet are:

- I made a huge mistake leaving my pet at the Vets
- How will I know if its only my pets ashes?
